Health + dental insurance starts tomorrow
By hope
Happy New Year’s Eve, BAD community!
Entering the year 2025 with a lot of insecurity regarding work. On December 19th, my full-time client again changed his mind about the full-time role. Frankly, I was exhausted by his downward spiral of commitment and decline. I’ve been offered some part-time work for January. But I’m not sure I trust him to pay me at this point.
However, I have health and dental insurance for myself and my two youngest children – a beautician and a gymnast. Woot, woot! I appreciate everyone’s input, especially the link to Georgia Access location.
Monthly cost: $84 Right now with my variable income dramatically reduced.
Coverage starts tomorrow. I will work to find providers and schedule preventive care appointments.
Last summer I wrote about habit stacking. With some time in the new year, I plan to resume my self-employment — a new advisor, a new calendar to keep me on track, and an openness to accepting whatever comes my way in the new year.
It took me a long time to realize that I couldn’t plan for “work” – it comes and goes, whether as a contractor or an employee, but I can plan for the in-between, improve myself, and how to deal with challenges. .
My self-worth should not, cannot, and will not be tied to my work. My identity can no longer be limited to being a mother now that my children have grown up and are on their own.
2025 will be a year of renewal for me. It’s time to let go of the old and embrace the new…whatever that may be.
Hope is a creative, solutions-focused business manager who helps clients grow their businesses and operate more efficiently by leveraging expertise in project management, digital marketing, and technology solutions. She has recently become an empty nester as her five foster/adopted children spread their wings. She lives with her three dogs in a small town in northeast Georgia and prefers the mountains to the beaches any day. She has the travel bug and does her best to help each of her children finish school and become independent (but it’s hard!) She’s been running her own consulting company for nearly twenty years! Hope began sharing her journey with the BAD community in the spring of 2015, and feels like she’s finally in a place that allows her to truly focus on making wise financial decisions.
