Black Friday Splurge 2024 – Retire by age 40

Hello everyone. Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you have an easy week. RB40Jr has a week off from school and we’re taking it easy. Over the weekend, he helped me clear the drain and prepare the house for the winter. Also, I visited the grocery store on Saturday and purchased a few items from Best Buy. Whew, now we’re ready for Thanksgiving. I’m ready to relax at home for the next few days.

Black Friday splurge

In the past, people would wake up before dawn to go shopping the morning after Thanksgiving. I remember lining up at different stores, but I haven’t done that in years. Black Friday shopping just got a lot more convenient today. Online deals are just as good as going to the store. Well, maybe you can get a better deal by lining up at 5am, but that’s too much effort for me right now. Well, 2024 has been a great year for investors. Why not help the economy along by splurging a little on Black Friday? Plus, I want to spend now because the Dear Leader tariff plan is coming soon. Everything will probably be 10-20% more expensive next year.

Laptop – under $500

My current laptop is about 10 years old. It’s limp, but it would be nice to have a laptop that runs smoothly. However, I don’t want to spend more than $500. There’s a Lenovo laptop on sale at Best Buy. It has a Ryzen 7 5700U, 16GB of memory, and a 512GB SSD for $420. This should be good enough for blogging and general web browsing. I picked this up on Saturday, but haven’t opened it yet. If I find a better deal, I may return it.

Xbox Controller – $40

Got an Xbox controller for my son. This will be one of his Christmas gifts for him. These Xbox controllers don’t last long. Stick drift is a real problem. Maybe I should get a backup too.

Bluetooth Speaker – Under $100

Mrs. RB40 spends more time practicing her craft hobbies in the basement. This bluetooth speaker will be a great gift for her. She is currently listening to music using the phone’s speaker. It’s disgusting. The new speaker will greatly improve your music listening experience. Maybe you’ll spend more time downstairs. hahaha…

Bass Ukulele – Under $200

I will be taking ukulele lessons at the community center this quarter. It’s a lot of fun and now I want to try the bass guitar. I’ll probably need a bass amp too, but that can wait. I’m sure there are a lot of bass amps in use.

Overall, I should get away with less than $1,000. You shouldn’t even rely on your laptop. It’s for blogging and I can deduct it.

Well, that’s all for today. I hope you have a great Thanksgiving! What’s on your shopping list this year?
