One interesting aspect about humans is that their opinion and worldviews are a direct product of how they consume information
. You may have heard the story of three blind men trying to understand what an elephant is. A blind man touched an elephant’s leg and concluded that the elephant looked like the trunk of a giant tree. The other touched the point and concluded that the elephant was a spear and the last touched the trunk and concluded that the elephant must be some kind of writhing snake.
And of course also the type of information they receive.
Likewise, people see the world in different ways that make sense to them given the means of perceiving, informing, and processing information available to them. There are at least two ways
Who took the information? The oldest method is to feel and experiment – like a self-taught mechanic who can fix an engine but can’t tell you how it works. Lao Tzu would agree. A newer way is to appropriate words to our experience and speech. This presents a problem in the sense that when I say “dog” and you hear me say “dog” – are we talking about the same dog? This way of receiving information ignores experience and fits it into the framework of language which can be either words, logic, emotions or values. A person can be so dismissive of his experiences that he can no longer tie his shoelaces. There are also at least two ways to reach conclusions that lead to actions. They both start with certain values but one system prioritizes values according to how they feel and other people feel and the other prioritizes values according to the rules of logic.
It is a very human characteristic to form an opinion very early, for example, when 20 percent of the information is presented, and then supporting information is used to reinforce one’s initial conclusion while dissenting information is ignored. This is a quick way to make people very decisive, which is good in an emergency, but it’s also a way to make sure people stay wrong for a long time.
Another human trait is that modern information is valued more than historical information, or worse, “the unseen.” The latter causes a tremendous amount of confusion. One could say the entire field of economics is dedicated to solving this problem (the broken window fallacy), at least after a couple of beers. In physics, this many-worlds problem is solved using wave functions; It is usually presented in reverse to say that many worlds is one way of interpreting the wave function.
I’m willing to bet money (I won’t win all the time but I will win often) if you believe in all the prevailing resonance fields or collective consciousness or if you believe there is something greater than you but you. You can’t pinpoint it, or if you’re always looking for answers, you’re probably ignoring your experience and thinking abstractly to evaluate your conclusions based on how you feel. You just “know” that there is something greater than yourself. On the contrary, if you continue to ignore the experience of the world that surrounds you, that is, if you continue to philosophize but use logic, you will be forced to conclude that there are no things greater than yourself and the things that exist can be understood (because if you cannot understand, it is irrelevant See?
